Free job application tracker template

A plain CSV with the seven columns that matter. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets, fill one row per application, and always know what you sent and what happens next.

No account, no email address and no tracking needed to download it.

What the template tracks

Company

Who you applied to. The first column JobMom looks for when you import.

Job title

The role as written in the posting, so you can match it to the listing later.

Job link

The original posting. Postings get taken down, so this is the first thing people lose.

Location

City, country or Remote. Useful when you compare offers.

Status

Saved, Applied, Interview, Offer or Rejected. One word per row keeps filters working.

Date applied

When you sent it. Use 2026-10-28 so every spreadsheet sorts it correctly.

Notes

Contact names, what you sent, what to prepare for the next round.

How to use it

  1. Download the file

Save the CSV below. It has the seven columns above and two example rows you can delete.

  2. Open it in your spreadsheet

Double-click it in Excel, or in Google Sheets choose File, Import, Upload. Both keep the columns as they are.

  3. Add one row per application

Fill in the company and job title first. Add the link while the posting is still open in your browser.

  4. Update the status as you hear back

Change Status to Interview, Offer or Rejected and add a line to Notes. Do it the same day, not at the end of the week.

  5. Check the list once a week

Sort by Date applied. Anything sent more than two weeks ago with no reply is worth a short follow-up.

When a spreadsheet stops being enough

  • You keep retyping the same listing details from job boards.
  • Links die when a posting is taken down, and so does the context.
  • You search several sites and lose track of which listing you already saw.
  • Rows pile up and the next step for each one is no longer obvious.

Bring the same sheet into JobMom

JobMom searches 11 job sources, keeps roles you may apply for apart from applications you sent, and records the stage, date, notes and original link for each one. Choose Import CSV and your rows arrive with their stages and dates. It is free, with no paid plan or trial, and the match score follows your rules, not AI.
